Diane Breesch works as a full professor mainly at the Faculty of Economic, Political and Social Sciences and Solvay Business School (where she is head of the department of Business) and partly at the Faculty of Physical Education (department of Sports Policy and Management) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium.
She teaches various courses on bachelor’s and master’s level in both faculties (‘Corporate Finance’, ‘Financial Statement Analysis and Auditing’, ‘Auditing Theory and Ethics’, ‘Introduction to Business’, ‘Financial Management and Economical Topics in Sports’).
Her research interests are in different areas of audit quality, financial reporting and professionalization of sport clubs. She has a special interest in the effect of gender, audit fee and audit market structure on audit quality as well as the demand for micro-entity financial reporting and the regulation versus voluntary disclosure. She is (co-) promoter of a number of doctoral studies with regard to these areas. She was also involved as co-promotor in the Flemish Policy Research Centre for Culture, Youth & Sport (2008-2011). Research findings are regularly published in scientific journals and other outlets as well as presented at (international) conferences or made available in working paper series.
