Since 2011 Jarno Hilhorst works as a external doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Physical Education and Physical Therapy of Vrije Universiteit Brussel, at the Department of Sports Policy and Management (SBMA) – research group Sport & Society. It is a joint doctoral research with Radboud University (the Netherlands) – Behavioural Science Institute. Jarno combines his doctoral research with his daily work as manager knowledge centre at the National Platform Swimming pools in the Netherlands. Before this he worked eight years as researcher/consultant for Kennispraktijk. He started working there in 2007 when he finished the studies Sportspolicy and –management (bachelor) and Social education and youth policy (master). Jarno’s research focusses on sports and socio-emotional development of youth. Next to a review he works on studies aimed at specific interventions and sportcontexts (trainer-child interaction in youth sport).
